WHAT WE SEE IN OLDER CHRISTIANS

When you look in a mirror you may see someone who feels the aches and pains of many years. But that’s not what we see. We see someone whom we long to see sitting in “their pew” every Sunday.

When you look in a mirror you may see age-spots on wrinkled hands that sometimes tremble. But we see the caring and gentle hands that have held many children, grandchildren, and maybe even great-grandchildren.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone who can’t hear well and whose voice sounds rougher with each passing year. But we see someone whose words are so precious that we treasure them.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone who shuffles down the aisle and is slow. But we see someone who may need an arm for support and someone who is teaching us a good lesson on patience.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone whose hair is thin and white. But we see someone whose hair reveals years of wisdom.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone who you think will not be missed if you are not there on Sunday. But we see your beautiful warm smile and the love you show for everyone in the congregation.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone whose clothes may be out of style.

But we see someone who has amazing stories of what life should be like.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone whose memory is not as good as it used to be. But we see someone whose very presence edifies and encourages us.

When you look in a mirror you may see someone who has aches and pains and feels old and tired. But we see a Christian who has weathered many years and truly knows the things that are important in life.

THANK GOD FOR OLDER CHRISTIANS!
